Brenda's Phd's - 4 Challenge Projects

Hello Everyone!!

I am finally putting up my pics for my UFO's - yeah!!!!

These are quilt tops - that are almost done, but they are not finished yet, so they are becoming clutter and stress for me in my room. 4 of them: all ready to be out of my hair!

#1) Twilight. and here is it's backing!! It's as bright as the front!!
This was a fun project to put together - and I think it will be a fun quilt to watch movies under! Or go camping or just to have it done!! Now, I have to create the backing, make binding, take it to my quilter and finish it...... Okay. Next!!!

#2) This quilt was a one-colour challenge from my guild! I had already been considering doing this in browns, but when they did the challenge, I thought of blue. ( I didn't do it in the browns because there were also creams and other little splashes of colour in some of the materials so it wouldn't have worked!!)
Is it beautiful?? Not really. Do I like it?? Yes!! And one of my daughters has already claimed it!! The backing is a blue flannel. I love flannel backings - just seems so comfy and warm!
So this one also need the backing cut to size and binding made. Then off to be quilted......
#3) Double Delight - a Bonnie Hunter mystery from 2008!! (oh look!! it's only a couple years old and ready to become a useful item!!!) I love Bonnie's mysterys and yes, I am printing out the steps for her new one. I am not going to rush to start it though. I do not have that many scraps!!

This one is a bit of work. I have a couple changes I need to make on the top, setting tri-angles that need to be changed so the same fabrics are a bit farther apart. I was working very hard to keep these fabrics varied - and the part that had the mistake on it, was near the bottom of the wall, so not as easy to see....... So, it will be fixed. Considered for a day or two not to, but I know that it will bug me so, I will re-sew it!!
And I have no backing for it!! No borders either - I am sure i have the fabric, I just don't have anything cut out for it. So this one is not as done as the other three. And this will be a fun one to finally put to rest. It was a challenge for me. I had no idea what colour 'cheddar' was when it came out!! lol!! uh, orange works!! And it has so many small pieces..... loved it!!! Lots of sewing, many fabrics used, just alot of fun to do!! Thank-You Bonnie for the experiance!!!
#4) Thimbleberries!! From so long ago it's crazy!!!!!!!

This one of those projects that when you are first starting and just want something to learn from, you want it easy to do and no stress. This is one of those type projects! Would I do this again? Yes. It is a good learning tool, but these are not 'my kind of colours' - but it was a fun project to do. And it was fun to have things sent in the mail to me!! (This is what happens when I am up late at night and am thinking I want to do a project - OH LOOK!! They will mail this to me!!! Well, sign me up!! And they did!!! lol!! I got backing too, so that is what is the pic on the side.)
Here they are. My 4 UFO projects. In 2009, my goal was to sew 20 minutes a day and take my little fabric pieces and make them into blocks, then into tops.... well it worked!!! I created alot of tops!!! And that is all good, considering before that, all I made was boxes of pieces or blocks..... But this year - 2011 - my goal is to get my projects DONE! Completed. FINISHED!!! And this challange is a fantastic way for me to get it going!!
While looking for these, and thinking of my projects, I am amazed at how many I have already started (about 20, no, more, but it's in the 20's......... I hope not the 30's, BUT if you counted the kits and project pieces I have bought to do a pattern, we are close to 50....... This habit has got to stop. And this is the way to do it. Thank-You Myra for getting me back on the route to the finish line! I appreciate it. ~Brenda!!
