Sliding Into The Finish Line

PhD number 4.

This quilt was a stack and slash I did at the end of 2006 so it's been a UFO for some time. Last month it became my first quilt on the frame and after some trials the quilting was completed. Monday I machined the binding and last night finished hand stitching the binding on the back and ta da! "Citrus Splash" is a UFO no more.

Looking forward to tackling number 5 in the new year but will have to take it shopping with me first to find some sashing/border fabrics.

My calendar quilt will be number 5 as it's required for a local quilt exhibition towards the end of 2012. Above are the months of April, May and June ... one 1" strip for each day of the month. All 12 months are completed and have the name of the month embroidered at the top.

Long Awaited Finish

Way back on the 26th of July, 2009 I posted this picture. The beginnings of a Quilt-as-you-go Log Cabin Quilt for our King size bed.

Today two years and 5 days later I am very very happy to share a photo of the finished quilt.

I had to add a border to the bottom of the quilt for tucking into the bed ... knowing what I know now, I should have made it 7 rows of 6 blocks but you don't see the border anyway. (The border is hanging over the clothes line out of sight)

This is my 3rd PhD and the one I really really wanted to finish. Thankyou Myra for allowing us to share after the deadline. Now onto my next PhD.

My First PhDs

Woohoo! Not one but two! It's a slow start I know but I'm proud to show my first PhD. This cheeky little chicken was waiting to be made up into a pot holder. My second PhD is Miss Holly Hobby with her washing basket. She's now ready to take good care of my clothes pegs.
Both UFOs were too old for me to calculate ... now onto my next UFO and turn it into a PhD.

Narelle's PhD's

If I don't get and do this now ... I WILL FORGET ... and 2011 will be here.

#1 ~ Quilt As You Go King Size Log Cabin

All the fabric was cut for this back in July 2009 (posted here) and I've been working on and off on this quilt since. I intended it to be finished for our Winter in June 2010 but now IT WILL be finished for Winter 2011.

#2 ~ Strips and Curves

This quilt was commenced at a local workshop in November 2009 remains the same as the day I came home from the workshop. I'd like to atleast make it into a finished top.

#3 ~ Strip Insertion

Another quilt started at a workshop in January 2010 and also remains the same as the day I came back home. This I would also like to make atleast the finished top.

I do have other challenge projects as listed on my blog sidebar so any more than these 3 will be a bonus.

I may also just change my mind about #2 and #3 above and substitute projects although I promise to do my best to meet the challenge I set before myself. :)

Thanks Myra .... I'm looking forward to obtaining my PhD in 2011.
