Finished 7/12 - Delayed Post

I forgot to post this finish on your blog....Sorry Myra...This is one of the two Quilt Alongs I had listed.   The other one has taken a back seat to several other projects/quilts, but I plan to remedy that soon.

I had several large pieces left over from the front so I incorporated it on the back.  Honestly, now that I think about it, I wish I didn't put the label on it, so it could be a double sided quilt.  But it still can be...

This is the 4th finished project that I listed, only one more to go.....Thanks for keeping this blog available...Things do get done and it makes me feel good that they do.

Finished the Mystery Quilt!

Just finished handquilting and binding my Mystery Quilt...It has been a little over a year since it was made, or at least it seems like it..

Now to give it a bath and decide  where it will be going....

PhD #2 done: Tool Quilt

I finished my tool quilt last night and took pictures this morning.  It is a simple quilt and I tried a new basting idea with it..never again..

But this is for my GC, and they will love G'ma anyway.

This is also the first time I really tried to piece the back of a quilt and it turned out okay.

Bindings...and Hitches

First, I have finished quilting my tool quilt and am working on the binding, which will be made from the leftovers of the quilt.  Hopefully, I will use most of the fabric that is left. A finish is not far away!

Remember my Mystery Quilt that I had to finish before I could show it to you?  Well, I have finished and sandwiched it.  It is ready to be quilted.  However, I don't know what design I will be using.  I only handquilt right now, and I will have to think about it for awhile.. hopefully before June!

Construction Quilt for DD and family

This is the first of my PhD challenges that I finished...and the easiest..it was almost finished when I listed my PhDs, but I did finish the binding at around 3:00AM on 1/1/11...cool date, what?

Quiet Quilter (Frances) PhDs

I have been working on my UFOs for the last month and a half so this is just an continuation of what I had to do anyway...But it is an added incentive.  Most of the time I handquilt, (simple patterns, straight lines, etc) because I enjoy the novelty of being able to work sitting down.

 I might try to machine quilt one of these babies.  Any of you have any suggestions as to which one ??

I always bite off more than I can chew, logic has nothing to do with my brain pattern.

I am going to try to finish quilting (and hopefully binding) 5 (count them! FIVE) quilts.  All are lap quilts and most will be given away.  I have 8 grandchildren (6 months to 12 years) and for the last few years have been trying to catch up with the number...I am starting on my second round of quilts for them.

Anyway, here they are...

1)  Construction Quilt - I bought the fabric in June 2010 on a lark, thinking this would be a quickie(giggle, giggle) quilt for one of my GSs...I got the top finished relatively fast, having to go back to get some blue fabric after I decided it needed another border.

I have almost finished quilting this simple quilt and am anticipating only having to bind it during January. 

2)  Tool top quilt - main fabric bought on the same trip as (1).  I decided that the quilt would be too dark, so bought the sashing fabric a couple of months ago to lighten it up.  Another GS (same family) will get this, unless he turns 18 before then..

This is a current picture of the top.  Long ways to go yet.

3) and 4) Two Quilt-Along  Tops - I started last summer with Amy in  Amy's Creative Side.  I decided I needed practice on various blocks.  Again I bit off a little more than I could chew.  I finished one top just a little beyond the time frame, and the other was done just a few weeks ago.  But I did get them done.  Now to quilt......

Finally 5)  Mystery Quilt - which I cannot show you.... I started this in September of this year.  I liked it because I had never done a mystery quilt before and the clues came every two weeks....a great way to see if I could keep up.....let's just say I am caught up now, waiting for the last 2 clues.

The top should be finished before the middle of January.  I can show you the fabric and bin of cut pieces now, however.



Hope I can get these done....Of course, I'll be sewing on other things.  I have decided this is a good time to get little things such as new ironing board covers, a few table runners and other small projects  done.

Have I mentioned that I am retired?
