Karen C's second finish

It feels so good to have this one done! I learned so much from doing it. It was a year-long quilt-along hosted by Shelly of Prairie Moon Quilts. This challenge pushed me to assemble it, quilt it myself and just get'er done. Once my husband makes a wall quilt rack for it, it will hang in our living room. I'm so happy to have completed it instead of it sitting in a box in pieces. It has a label on the back along with the sleeve to hang it, so it's already to put up.

Hazel Ilene Diary quilt finished!

I have four more PhD's to finish so the pressure is on!

Pinwheel Baby Quilt done!

This is my first PhD finish; woohoo! I'd finished the top back in Jan./10, but was unsure how to quilt it. This challenge was what I needed to just get'er done. Pattern came from Moda Bakeshop and can be found HERE. Fabric is Aviary by 3 Sisters for Moda.

It's my first attempt at free motion quilting. I've been practicing on a sampler and just decided to go for it. Figured the recipient of the quilt, my daughter, wouldn't mind the wonky stitching anyways. And dispite all it's flaws, must say that I love it and am thrilled that I finally did some FMQ.
It feels so great to have this flimsy now a quilt, with my little girl walking around hugging it.
More details can be found on my blog, if you're interested.
Thanks for doing this Myra. It's really helped motivate me.

Karen's PhDs

I'm really excited to be part of this PhD challenge! A big Thank You to Myra for organizing this!
My hope is to get six projects completed. A quick run down is as follows:
Mod Sampler quilt
-have the back to finish piecing, quilting and binding yet to do.

Hazel Ilene Diary quilt
- have the setting blocks to finish up, then piecing together, quilting and binding. I have more done than the pic shows.
Thread Head QAL quilt
- we're still doing the blocks but plan to finish it up over the winter months. I don't have a group shot of all the blocks done so far but this is one pattern.

A Tisket, A Tasket, 12 Months in Baskets
-have three more blocks to complete, then the piecing together, quilting and binding.

Pinwheel Baby Quilt
- quilting and binding left to do.

Star and Pinwheel quilt
- may change a few blocks, then sashing, quilting and binding to do.

I think this will be great motivation to get these PhDs done. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's progress over the coming months.
Happy sewing everyone!
