DONE!

Done! Finished! I can’t believe I actually did it! Thank you so much Myra for presenting this challenge to get things done. I know that I would have sewn just as much but I wouldn’t have as many finished quilts to show.

This quilt was the only one on my list that didn’t have a home before I started. As I was finishing the binding my dil came over and wanted to know if I had a quilt she could have for hauling around in her car that could be used when lawn chairs were forgotten. Perfect!

I did manage to find fabric in my stash to use for the binding on this one. I had wanted to use a green stripe but didn’t have enough. Went with blue instead and it works ok. This quilt is going to my daughter’s (she’s the teacher) classroom in the reading corner.

Now, on to the next project!

Only two to go!

Binding is my least favorite part of quilting but one that really makes a difference. The two that I have left only need binding. One is just waiting to be attached. The other… I can’t find the fabric I want to use. I have some but not enough. Guess I have to go shopping! I did finish the binding on two this week. They will both go to the Binky Patrol. 

The double 4-patch is from a shoe box of squares given to me many, many years ago. 

The baby quilt is leftovers from when a friend of DD1 had a baby two years ago. Instead of making what I needed, for some reason I made double. It did make for more variety in the squares. And now some lucky baby will get to enjoy it.

Done with #2

Two done and a bunch of bindings to finish. I really wish the bindings would just attach themselves to the rest of the quilt, because then I would be nearly done with this challenge.

This quilt is a change from my original 6. It was on the list, just farther down. It is a Merry Mayhem one-day mystery that I started the day it was posted but never quite finished. I was making it for a wedding that was at some unnamed date in the future so no need to rush. The wedding got moved up so I had to hurry and finish. I seem to work much better that way. When it can’t be put off any longer, that is when I get it done. The quilt for my daughter is the one that got bumped down the list. Just as well because she will be here this weekend so I won’t be able to work on it till after she leaves again.

Time for some bindings!

Black & White & Blue All Over

Finally, I have a finish. I have quilted 4 of my 6 tops and have number 5 pinned in the frame now but am having a hard time getting the bindings attached. But, the one for my nephew’s wedding is done. Ahead of time! (The one in the machine is for a wedding in 8 days)

When I went to get the backing, I was intending to get black but ended up with zebra print instead. Called my sister to let her know I was putting a crazy back on her son’s quilt and she said “Perfect!” the bride loves zebra and that is what the bridesmaids are wearing. How lucky can ya get?

When I was cleaning and organizing in my sewing room last week I decided to count how many projects I had started. I quit when I got to 25. While I would love to get them all done tomorrow, I think one a month is a more realistic goal.

#1 is a double 4-patch started many years ago, I finished the top but it still needs quilting and binding.

#2 is triangles that I cut last week before counting all that I had waiting.

#3 is a wonky 9-patch kid’s quilt that was started about 1 ½ years ago and left to sit. It just needs the center seam and quilting.

#4 is a shoebox full of random ½ square triangles. These are mostly ugly fabric and not all cotton that someone gave me many, many years ago.

#5 is a wedding quilt for my nephew who is getting married in May.

#6 is a wedding quilt for my daughter who is getting married on October 1 and I have no idea what I am going to make.

I have many others I need to finish but this will make a good start to my year.
