Another finish for the instigator!!

Yup! I (Myra) have my 3rd finish to show you!!!
I am really glad that I got this one done!

I made and sandwiched this quilt top about 9-10 years ago.
It has been patiently waiting for me to have the confidence
to free motion quilt it on my own, with my little Pfaffy.
I wanted to do something fancier than straight lines, I wanted
to replicate some of the applique shapes in the borders,
and I did manage it... The quilting was not done with total
confidence by any means... Shaky stitching in many
areas, but I'm happy with it and glad it is done!! 8-)
You'll note some markings on it still.
It is getting washed tomorrow...

I give you my....
"COUNTRY SAMPLER"
 Pattern by the Rabbit Factory

The other day I was being jokingly taunted a bit about "the leader of this Phd Challenge", should be a good example, and work diligently on all her committed PhDs, AND get them "ALL DONE"!!! Ya-ya! I'm just like so many of you... life gets in the way... Bla-bla-bla... You know!!! 8-)

I am happy with my 3 of 6, and will be more realistic on the
next round of a PhD Challenge, if and when it happens..
Besides keeping track of more finishes on the group blog, I am on
to making my first expected grand-baby a quilt, and finish up
some baby knits now!!! 8-)

Happy stitchings to all of you!
I anticipate quite a few more finishes popping up here!! 8-)

I'm in business again!!! Whoopee!!!

Computer fixed, photos loaded, posts and updating to do!!!

Here is my second PhD finish! Yippee!!!!
This is #5 - Charm Packs on Point
...and a peek at the back/quilting...
 Doing the happy dance here, although there is much more to do... I don't know why, but I always leave things to "crunch" time...? lol!! 8-)

You can see my other posts here, and you'll note that I quilted this in February... It ended up a big mess of thread breakages, that I brought it home and chucked it in a corner. I pulled it out last week to bring to a weekend retreat, and now it is done!! 8-)

Next!!!

I will get this blog caught up, and get some "high time" posts
up on my blog tomorrow when DH is at work...

Happy stitchings all! 8-)

The instigator has a PhD finish!!!

Yahoo!!! The instigator/procrastinator has FINALLY
finished 1 of her 6 committed PhDs!!!

This is my "Holly Jolly" quilt.
Disappearing 9-Patch done with 4 charm packs!!
Left overs and pieced backing...
I haven't set a very good example of getting my PhDs done for you all, but therein lies the problem for me... This challenge IS forcing me to get them done, albeit "STILL" in a procrastinated manner... 8-)

Myra's PhD progress update...

Nope! No finishes for the instigator of the PhD Challenge,
as of yet, but I am making progress...

I was to have had a finish at the beginning of March, but I was so disheartened with the trouble I had with machine quilting it, and all the areas I have to "fix", that I just threw it in a corner & forgot about it...
It is still there!!!

At a quilt retreat this past weekend, I did make
progress on two of my other PhDs!

The far left quilt, one of my PhDs, after quilting it 10 days ago, I got the binding attached and started the handwork. Next quilt is Yvonne's finished PhD (previous post), then some other friend's creative works, and below is another one of my PhD's that I pieced more blocks for... Soon to be sewn together... I hope!!!
So, I will hopefully get my Holly Jolly all bound up
and ready to present as done ASAP!!! 8-)

Hope you all had a great weekend with your PhDs!!!

Myra's update...

I have another one of my PhDs quilted... woohoo!!!
I may have this one done before the last one I quilted, just cause I had/have "problems" to fix on it... Here's hoping!!!

 Have a look at the knitting I've done recently...
Very kewl yarn!!! 8-)

Happy stitchings!

PhD update from Myra...

Well, here I am! Your sluggish ahhh nose to the grindstone
leader of the PhD Challenge! 8-)

This past Friday I rented friend Barb's machine/frame
at her shop, and got PhD #5 quilted. Woohoo!!!
Meandering Stars...
 I still need to tuck in tails, do a bit of touch ups, make a label and binding, but progress is being made!!! Happy, happy!!

Also, just showing you here that I have been making
progress with my hand-quilting on PhD #6...
Seems I have a bit of a pucker, but hopefully I can fix that some...

This weekend, quilt retreat, I hope to get
a backing put together for my PHD #4...

Happy stitchings friends!
Let's get'er done! 8-)

Myra's PhD Update...

It has been fairly quiet on the PhD Challenge Blog!
How come so? There are over 70 quilters invited to post on this blog, yet it is very quiet...? It can mean one of four things...

1.)  Everyone is very busy trying to get a/another PhD done.
2.)  You are busy with your family life just now.
3,)  Participants have forgotten about their challenge commitments...
4.)  Or, you've changed your mind about participating... If so, could you please let me know so that I can make the changes?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I've been hand-quilting my "Give Thanks" quilt, for a good stretch of time, at least once a week... I look forward to seeing this one complete and hanging in my dining-room by the end of June, if not before... 8-)
And I received great news last week!!! My friend Barb (quilt shop owner) informed me that the machine "part" they've been waiting for, since before Christmas, has finally come in, and the quilt machine is now up and running again!!!
Woohoo!!!
So, I've booked an appointment to quilt this PhDs next week Friday!!!
Doing the happy dance here!!! I'll have my first finish real soon then!!!
I'm thinking I should have made 2-3 more appointments right away too, as I have 4 PhD quilt tops that need quilting ... I will have to get on the phone and make it happen!!!
Sorry I haven't been out and about blogland to visit all of you...
I've been kind of under the weather, and /or busy around here...
Have a great weekend everyone!
Myra
Lets see some updates here ladies... 8-)
Myra IS working on a PhD!
Since I haven't posted of any progress yet, here or on my personal blog,
I thought I'd reassure you that I am plodding along on one of my PhDs.
It is #6 from my initial PhD post. I'm hand-quilting this one...
You can view all the appliqued blocks here (that are on this quilt)
if you wish to see them. The last post also mentions
the particulars of this pattern...
Would you believe that this was my very first experience in quilting... 10 years ago, and it still isn't finished!!! I had signed up for 10-wks of classes, without a clue as to how "out of my ability range" it might be, but I did much better than expected, and it was a very positive experience,
with a wonderful teacher...
IT WILL BE DONE BY THE END OF JUNE!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ladies, could I ask you to check the link you've got to the PhD button, that you've kindly put up on your blogs... I think some of them are linking to my personal blog...
If so, could you change the link to our group blog please?
Thanks! 8-)

Hope you are enjoying the PhD ride... 8-)
Happy stitchings all!

41 Participants So Far...

...41!!! Wow! I can't believe it!!!
Simply amazing!!! 8-)
How many is too many to have on one blog?
Does anyone even know?
All I know is that we are going to have some pretty
amazing quilts show up on here...
FINISHED! DONE! OFF OUR TO DO LISTS!!!

Doesn't telling someone that you are
"working towards getting your PhD done"
sound like you are really going places in life!?! Like you are brilliant!?! Especially at some of our ages!!! That would certainly shock many of my family and friends!!! LOL! 8-)
Here I show you, a UFO
that I have committed to
finishing up as a top,
before midnight on
New Year's Eve,
I am showing you this,
because in the back of my
mind, I am hoping to
possibly get this
added as a finished
PhD by June 30th...
But I am not committing to it, and you can't make me! HA! 8-)
EDIT: Quilt Top DONE!
See here...

This peek is also a committed UFO
for Finn's Challenge.
Machine quilted with a transparent thread. It looks like the bobbin thread might be peeking out, but it is only a shine on the thread from the light in the room...
This one has to be fully finished, and soon!!
It is very hard to "get'er done" (as my friend Phyllis always says), especially with all this PhD stuff taking off, going crazy (I love it), and Christmas being almost upon us...
I'll show this finished on my personal blog...
EDIT: DONE check here...
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!
Let the Season's celebrations begin!
Ready or not! 8-)

Myra's PhD Challenge Projects

Well, I'll be first to post my projects that need finishing.
Then you can check if I've done them!!! lol! 8-)
I've committed to 6 projects. Am I biting off more than I can chew!?! Yikes! I am determined though!!! They need to get done and off my mind, besides, I need the space for all those future projects I have on my mind... 8-)

Now, in no particular order...

1.) My QD Sampler...
Top is done, needs batting, backing, quilting, binding & label.

2.) My Country Sampler
It is sandwiched, but I've been nervous about machine quilting it for so long, it is time to dive in and get this sucker done!!!

3.) My Hidden Thimbles
Blocks made, but that is it! Needs to be a finished quilt!

4.) My Holly Jolly
Top done, but needs to be a finished quilt!

5.) My Charm Packs on Point
Again, top done, but needs to be a finished quilt!

6.) My Many Thanks
Sandwiched & in the process of being hand-quilted, very little done, & needs to be hanging up in my kitchen by end 2011 at latest!!!

7.) My Picket Fences
I got this put together in one weekend, but got stumped on the pieced border I am wanting on it, cause I have to do the figuring on my own. No pattern for the border... This one definitely needs to get done!!!

Yup! I listed 7 PhDs on this post! I'm committing to 6, but hoping to get 7 done and off my back!!!

The next time you see any of these projects (on this blog),
they will be in a finished and done state!!!

To the other 12 participants (so far),
what projects are you committing too?

I am soooo looking forward to this!!! 8-)
