PhD #2 done: Tool Quilt

I finished my tool quilt last night and took pictures this morning.  It is a simple quilt and I tried a new basting idea with it..never again..

But this is for my GC, and they will love G'ma anyway.

This is also the first time I really tried to piece the back of a quilt and it turned out okay.

Frances that is a seriously adorable quilt - perfect for your grandson - even the border fabric has tools on it - how awesome!

I love pieced and patchworked backings - they're just that little bit more "zingy" than plain backings :)

The pieced back is awesome - such a great way to use up scraps! And I'm curious - what basting technique did you use this time but never again?
