Peg’s Pieces

I’ve been watching the blog posts grow, and feeling really guilty at not getting to posting my PhDs.  This sure looks like a fabulous group, and I’m as excited to be a member and watching everybody else accomplish their goals, as I am to see if I can meet my goals along with all of you!

I think I said I’d have 3 projects, but I think that number has grown in the last couple of days:

1. Row by Row

61.RBR - row 7 done

This project is like a BOM, being run by our LQS and my dear friend and mother of my son-in-law.  Each row has a different technique, including reverse applique (the whales at the bottom).  It’s been a lot of fun so far, and I’m sure this one can be accomplished.

2. Earlene Fowler Sampler

009

These are just a few blocks, each based on the title of an Earlene Fowler novel.  These are mystery novels (my favorite easy-reading genre), each book title with the name of a quilt block.  I’ve been wanting some neutral-color table covers for my living room, and set out to collect the patterns for the blocks.  This I’ve just picking away at to fill in time between other projects.

3.  Quilt-as-You-Go table runner

100_5789100_0052

This table-runner pattern (left picture) was found on vacation earlier this year, and I decided to do one side in fruits and vegetables, the other in coffee theme (perfect for the friend I have in mind).  The pumpkins and carrots (also in the left picture) were bought at the same time.  Oh, and you can see one of the fat quarter packs for the fabrics for the sampler blocks also bought at that time.  The lettuce and tomatoes in the right picture were sent to me by Janet, in a swap just between us.  I’ve also found some coffee theme fabrics, but no picture yet.  I need to collect a whole bunch more to get started on this one!

4.  Fall Leaves table-topper

001

This one is ready for quilting and then binding, the binding is even all cut out and set aside.  I just have to take the plunge!

5.  Homespun Harmony

004

This is a Joan’s Own quilt that I just adored from the minute I saw it at a quilt show.  The pattern sat around for a few years, then I started cutting out all of the appliques almost 2 years ago, finally got it to the stage of putting blocks together this past summer.  It also is ready for quilting, just don’t know how I’m going to do that – wish I was better at planning these things!!

6. Pumpkins and Spice

010

The color on this picture is really poor here, but it’s a lovely set of panels that will be sewn into a wall-hanging.  Jo, over at Pieceful Afternoon, had posted about planning to do this – and then very kindly found and sent a panel to me.  We’re doing this ‘together’ starting in the spring, so hopefully it will be done by the fall.  You can see a picture of a finished quilt on her blog.  I need to get out and find the go-with fabrics.

Whew – I really do have more than 3 – oh, and then there’s the Christmas table-topper challenge that we’re going to do at our small quilt group.  We have the pattern, will be sharing our fabrics!

Happy quilting everyone!              Blessings, Peg

It will be fun to see how everyone progresses, the quilts and type of work that needs to be done is so diverse. The Earlene Fowler sampler looks like fun and so does the quilt as you go table runner. Looking foward to cheering your progress on all fronts.

Projects do tend to grow when we're not watching! Thank goodness for this blog! We will be helping each other stay afloat!
