PROMISES, PROMISES, I HOPE

Hi my name is Joan and I live in a small village on the edge of Lake Ontario, Canada. Five years ago a friend and I took a trip to Mennonite country in Pennsylvania. It was a great trip and I fell in love with the area, the people, the food and most of all the fabric. The fabric here was half the cost of ours in Canada. I purchased an obscene amount of fabric, but I also purchased a pattern and the fabric to make it.
This is called the Wedding Star and when I got home I went mad and sewed all the pieces together in sets, of course they were all wrong, so I put it away for another day. Now this day is here, I have been taking the sections apart and resewing them, this is as far as I have gotten. Challenge #1.

Three years ago our guild had a log cabin challenge. I have been slowly working on this project until I ran out of one of the fabrics. What quilt store has the same fabric 3 years later. I found a half metre, so no more excuses. Challenge #2.

At heart I am an appliquer, so naturally instead of getting on with the above two projects I have to make an applique wall hanging.

The above is my paper pattern.

Looking forward to the coming year and seeing how everyone progresses, please keep an eye on me also and give me a swift kick in the butt if I stop producing. I will do the same for you.

May 2011 be a happy and productive year for everyone.

The Wedding Star is outstanding! It will be worth the hassle of unsewing to sew and finish it. Lovely! I am just starting to applique (and it is not one of my listed projects for this group, but I am going to do it anyway) Am really curious as to the colors you will use, besides the purple/blue/?? for the grapes.

Okay *(evil little laugh here)* You like Applique??! It is my - I am always looking at projects that have to do applique in them, but when it comes down to doing it, I freeze!!! So, lets make a deal!! i will unsew what you need unsewn and you can do my applique projects for me!!!

Okay, I know - I have to do them myself - it's my mess and I need to clean it up, I just thought I would toss the idea out there.... *heavy sigh* lol!!

I LOVE the first quilt - and it is beautiful!!!! And with all the memories assciated with it, what a fantastic project it will be to have done!! Make it the one you do a little on everyday, even 5 minutes will make a HUGE impact on it's complecion - and I can hardly wait to see it done!!
Love that you thought your log cabin was in trouble with the missing fabric - and that you found it!!!! See!! Great things happen to GREAT people!! prime example right here!! Love it!!
And now I want to see your applique hanging.... but, work on it last everyday..... ;-) Kidding! work on your projects when you can and yes, we will all be here cheering you on and waiting to see the results! No stopping for any of us this year. And yes, 2011 will be a great year!! We have already made new friends!!!

The Wedding Star is gorgeous! I'm with Brenda on the work in it for 5 minutes every day and it will get done without driving yourself blind! I'm not much for doing applique, but I admire everyone else's projects.

Looking forward to all your finishes!

All wonderful projects. I love your wedding star colors, they just glow. I first saw that pattern in California, and knew I'd never make it, but I still think about it, so I'll love seeing you finish yours.
